  1. Where is Bhutan located?
    Bhutan is located in South Asia within the eastern Himalayas. It is bordered by China in the north and the Indian states Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Assam and West Bengal in the east, west and south.

  5. How much will my package cost?
    The Government fixes the tourist tariff in Bhutan.Cultural/Trekking – US$ 200/- per day per person
    Surcharge:
    Single Individual – US$ 40/- Per night per person.
    Group of two - US$ 30/- Per night per person.
  6. How does the booking process work?
    The booking process is all done by e-mail and by fax/phone.
  7. When is the best time to visit Bhutan?
    Every season has its own charm. We have almost every month a festival taking place. The best season to travel to Bhutan is on March, April, May, September, October, and November.
  8. Do I need a visa for Bhutan? How can I obtain a Bhutan visa?
    All tourists travelling to Bhutan are required to obtain a visa, except for Indian Nationals holding a valid passport. We will handle the visa procedures for you. The actual visa will be stamped upon arrival at the Paro airport.
  9. Do you offer discounts for children & students?
    We offer 50% discount for children from ages 6 to 12 accompanied by parents/guardiansand 25% discount for full-time students below 25 years of age with a proper valid ID from their university.
  10. What is included in my trip package?
    The tour package includes airport transfers, accommodation on a twin sharing basis, all meals, land transport within Bhutan, sightseeing, a local English-speaking tour guide, a driver & vehicle, and museum fees. Pack horses for treks, along with the trekking equipment.
  11. Can I have a private tour?
    Yes, all of our itineraries are designed for private tours, meaning that we will not group you together with other tourist unless you requested. So you can travel solo or bring along your few friends.
  12. Tell me more about the tour & trek itinerary?
    The entire itinerary is not fixed. It depends on one’s interest, whether cultural, festivals /trekking or a combination. We will help you plan your itinerary based on your interest and time frame.
  13. What kinds of vehicles do you use?
    We use comfortable clean, well- maintained Toyota or Hyundai vehicles: a four-seat car for group of one or two people; a minivan for group of three to seven people; and a coaster bus for larger groups.
  14. How far in advance do I have to sign up for the tours?
    For most tours the booking must be completed within 3 to 5 weeks in advance, but during the festival booking must be completed at least between 8 to 13 weeks in advance mainly to secure accommodation and Druk Air seats. We can sometime even conduct the tour within a week time.
  15. How do I pay for bookings with Vajra Guru Spiritual Travel?
    All the tour payments must be made in advance. Payment should be deposited through the Bhutan National Bank account abroad, payable in favour of the Vajra Guru Spiritual Travel. Without the advance payment the Tourism Council of Bhutan won’t clear your visa papers.
  16. When will I get my trip confirmation?
    Within 8 hours of your booking unless it is Saturday or Sunday or a government holiday in Bhutan, as they are closed on those days.
  17. What airline will I fly on and from where?
    Druk Air is Bhutan's national airline and they fly from any of the following cities: Bangkok (Thailand), Delhi and Kolkota (India), Kathmandu (Nepal) and Bangladesh (Dhaka). You can also enter from a few cities on the Indian border by car.
  18. How can I purchase Druk Air tickets?
    There are two ways to purchase Druk Air Tickets. You can purchase online from Druk Air’s website (www.drukair.com.bt) Or we can purchase your Druk air tickets for you and sent to you via email.
  19. What will the food be like?
    You will have a variety of cuisines to choose from including Bhutanese, Indian, Tibetan, Thai, Continental, and Chinese. The main staples Bhutanese diets are red rice and chillies popularly called “Ema datse’. Which is a mixture of chillies & cheese?
  20. Do I have to worry about altitude sickness in Bhutan?
    Most of our visitors have no problem adjusting altitude as our cultural and festival tours do not reach altitude higher than 3,500 meters. But during your long trekking we may go as high as 5,000 meters.
  21. Can I use my credit card in Bhutan?
    In general, credit cards are not accepted in Bhutan but in a few handicrafts shops accepts visa card only.
  22. Are there ATM in Bhutan?
    There is No ATM in Bhutan.
  23. What is the time zone in Bhutan?
    Bhutan has only one time zone. It is six hours ahead of GMT. The country code for Bhutan is +975
  24. Is it safe to travel to Bhutan?
    There is very very little crime in Bhutan, and it is safe for women travellers and solo travellers to visit Bhutan alone.
  25. Do you provide travel insurance?
    No, we do not provide travel insurance, but Government has recently introduced the travel insurance facilities but we do request you to get your travel insurance from your own country.
  26. What is the weight limit for luggage on Druk Air?
    The limit of 20 kg for economy class and 30kg for business class.
  27. Is there a dress code for tourists in Bhutan?
    There is no particular dress code for the tourist. It would be nice to avoid revealing clothing (such as wearing very short skirts and tank tops). Men can bring jeans, cottons pants, collar T-shirts, casual shirts, and long sleeves and coat/ jacket for the evening and early morning. You can’t wear short, short skirt, T-shirt without collar, hats/caps, and slipper while visiting Monasteries, Temples, Dzongs, though they are fine for trekking and hiking.
  28. Festival etiquette and dress code:
    Please always take off your hats while entering religious sites and festival (tshechu). Sneakers, jeans, T-shirt without collars and short are not allowed as festivals are held always in or near by the dzongs and monasteries. You are requested to dress decently (smart casual). Taking photography is allowed during the Tshechu festivals.
  29. Why do I need a guide? Can I tour Bhutan on my own?
    Tourism in Bhutan is highly regulated by the Government. If you want to visit Bhutan, you must do so through a registered licensed Bhutanese tour company/agent. You cannot tour the country on your own.
  30. What if I need to cancel my trip at the last moment?
    The tour programmes booked and subsequently cancelled are subjected to cancellation charges as follows:Within 21 days 10% of the rate
