Day 1: Arrival Paro, visit Kyichu Lhakhang (it is one of the 108 temples built by King Songtsen Gampo in
659 A.D), and evening visit Drukgyel Dzong, and then mingle with the School children and villagers to
talk and experience the impact of gross national happiness. O/n Paro at an altitude of 2280m
Day 2: Morning hike to Takshang temple (one of the most sacred places in Bhutan due to its association
with Guru Rinpoche, who reputedly flew to Paro Takshang cliff in the form of Guru Dorji Drolo, mounted on
a flaming dakini-tigress in the 747 A.D., where he meditated and subdued evil spirits). Afternoon visit
National Museum and Paro Dzong. Evening at leisure. O/n Paro
Day 3: Drives to Thimphu (capital) en-route stop visit Simtokha Dzong (oldest dzong). Afternoon visit
Bhutanese Paper factory, Nunnery, Changgngkha Lhakhang, and Sangay hill for the best view of Thimphu town
and Mini zoo. An informal talk on the concept of “Gross National Happiness” by the Bhutanese Scholar at
Dinnertime. O/n Thimphu at an altitude of 2320m
Day 4: Morning visit National Institute of Traditional Medicine, School of Arts, National Library, and
Post Office to buy Bhutanese stamp. Afternoon drive to Punakha and visit Punakha Dzong where the secret
relic ‘Rangjung Kharsapani’, that Zhanbdrung brought with him from his monastery at Ralung in Tibet.
Legion says that a statue of ‘Rangjung Kharsapani’ (Avalokiteshvara) appeared miraculously from the
vertebra of Tsangpa Gyre, the founder of Drukpa Kagyu lineage of Mahayana Buddhim. O/n at Punakha (old
capital) is located at 1250m
Day 5: Morning drive to Gangtey glacial valley, the home of the rare endangered black-necked crane.
Afternoon visit Gangtey Monastery and enjoy the nature trail walk from Monastery to the cranes roosting
place. O/n Gangte at an altitude of 3000m
Day 6: Morning drive to Trongsa and visit Trongsa Dzong (the biggest and the most impressive Dzong at an
altitude of 1900m) and afternoon drive to Bumthang. Bumthang is the most historical valley with visible
signs of the visit of the Great Buddhist saint Guru Rinpoche and Longchen Rabjampa. O/n Bumthang at an
altitude of 2600m to 4000m
Day 7: Morning visit to Jampa Lhakhang (It is another one of 108 temple built by King Songtsen Gampo in
the year 659 A.D), Kurjey Lhakhang (in 8th century Guru came to Bumthang and meditated, leaving JEY
(imprint) of his KU (body) in the rock, hence the temple’s name is known as Kurjey). In the afternoon
visit Tamshing Lhakhang [It is one of the most important Nyingma temples in the Kingdom. It was built by
Pema Lingpa in 1501 with the help of Khandroma (Female celestial beings)], Namkha’i Nyingpo Monastery,
and Jakar Dzong. O/n Bumthang.
Day 8: Drive to Mongar en-route stop to visit Ura village. O/n Mongar
Day 9: Mongar Sightseeing & drive to Trashigang. O/n Trashigang
Day 10: Morning Drive to Trashiyangtse a visit Traditional Arts School, and local wood craving.
O/n Trashigang
Day 11: Drive to SamdrupJongkhar. O/n SamdrupJongkhar
Day 12: Exit transfer to Guwahati, a major city of Assam, India (OR)
Day 11: Drive back to Mongar O/n Mongar
Day 12: Drive back to Bumthang O/n Bumthang
Day 13: Drive back to Wangduephodrang O/n Wangdi
Day 14: Drive back to Paro, O/n Paro
Day 15: Departure.
