Day 1: Arrival Paro, visit Kyichu Lhakhang (it is one of the 108 temples built by King Songtsen Gampo in
659 A.D), and Paro town. O/n Paro at an altitude of 2280m
Day 2: Drives to Thimphu (capital) en-route stop visit Simtokha Dzong (oldest dzong) built in 1629.
Afternoon visit Textile museum, Bhutanese Paper factory, Nunnery, Changgangkha Lhakhang, and Sangay hill
for the best view of Thimphu town and mini Zoo to see the Takin, Bhutan’s national animal. A brief and
simple talk on overall thirteen arts and craft and some more details on textiles weaving and its history
by Dr. Karma. O/n Thimphu at an altitude of 2320m
Day 3: Morning visit the Institute of 13 Arts (the institute gives lessons in painting, calligraphy,
embroidery, wood carving and sculpture, boot making, slate carving, metal working, weaving, gold grinding
and making of religious drums and National Institute of Traditional Medicine, National library. Afternoon
visit to the private weaving house for weaving demonstration and interview. Evening at leisure and
shopping. O/n Thimphu at an altitude of 2320m
Day 4: Morning drive to Punakha and visit Punakha Dzong where the secret relic ‘Rangjung Kharsapani’,
that Zhanbdrung brought with him from his monastery at Ralung in Tibet. Legion says that a statue of
‘Rangjung Kharsapani’ (Avalokiteshvara) appeared miraculously from the vertebra of Tsangpa Gyre, the
founder of Drukpa Kagyu lineage of Mahayana Buddhim. En-route stop to visit Chimey Lhakhang the
fertility temple of Lama Drukpa Kuenley the Divine Madman (optional). LO/n at Punakha
Day 5: Morning drive to Gangtey glacial valley, the home of the rare endangered black-necked crane.
Afternoon visit Gangtey Monastery and enjoy the nature trail walk from the Monastery to cranes roosting
place. O/n Gangte at an altitude of 3000m
Day 6: Morning visit local carpet weaving house and drive to Trongsa and visit Trongsa Dzong (the
biggest and the most impressive Dzong at an altitude of 1900m) and afternoon drive to Bumthang. Bumthang
is the most historical valley with visible signs of the visit of the Great Buddhist saint Guru Rinpoche
and Longchen Rabjampa. O/n Bumthang at an altitude of 2600m to 4000m
Day 7: Morning visit to Jampa Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang, Tamshing Lhakhang and in the afternoon visit
local Handloom weaving house. Bumthang is famous for Yathra-weaving. Yathra is the name for the locally
produced hand-woven woollen cloth. The wool from sheep and Yak. Here we can see the vegetable dye
technique on wool and spinning. O/n Bumthang
Day 8: Drive to Mongar en-route stop to visit Ura village. O/n Mongar
Day 9: A daylong Excursion to Khoma village of Kurteo is famous for Kishuthara weaving. Kishuthara is a
silk on silk weaving with colourful intricate hand lace patterns. It is the most expensive textile in
Bhutan. It is a full day excursion where one can see some technique of weaving from local villagers and
as well as a good opportunity to interview and get our hands in weavings.
Day 10: Mongar Sightseeing & drive to Trashigang. O/n Trashigang
Day 11: Morning Drive to Rangjung village to see the raw silk textile weaving, popularly known as
‘Bura’ in private homes. And in the afternoon visit National Handloom Centre at Khaling
Day 12: Drive to SamdrupJonglha. O/n Samdrup Jongkhar
Day 13: Exit transfer to Guwahati, a major city of Assam, India (OR)
Day 12: Drive to Mongar and evening at leisure and shopping O/n Mongar
Day 13: Drive to Bumthang O/n Bumthang
Day 14: Drive to Wangduephodrang and evening at leisure. O/n Wangdi
Day 15: Drive to Paro via Thimphu, O/n Paro
