Day 1: Arrival Paro, visit Paro Dzong, Kyichu Lhakhang (it is one of the 108 temples built by King
Songtsen Gampo in 659 A.D), and Paro town. O/n Paro at an altitude of 2280m
Day 2: Drives to Thimphu (capital) en-route stop visit Simtokha Dzong (oldest dzong). Afternoon visit
National Institute of Traditional Medicine, School of Arts, National library, Nunnery, Changangkha
Lhakhang, and Sangay hill for the best view of Thimphu town and mini zoo. O/n Thimphu at an altitude of
2320m
Day 3: Witness Thimphu Drupchen and in the afternoon, hike to Chari Monastery, the first monastic
community in the country established with 30 monks by Zhabdrung Rinpoche in 1620. Evening at leisure and
shopping. O /n Thimphu
Day 4: Witness Drupchen festival – the tradition of Drubchen, or Dromchoe was started in 1707 to invoke
Goddess Palden Lhamo’s blessing for the well-beings of all sentient beings in the universe. After lunch
visit to Traditional Paper factory, weekend market, Textile museum, Folk heritage Museum and
Dechenphodrang monastic school. O/n Thimphu at an altitude of 2320m
Day 5: Drive to Wangduephodrang via Punakha. Visit Punakha Dzong, where the secret relic ‘Rangjung
Kharsapani’, that Zhanbdrung brought with him from his monastery at Ralung in Tibet. Legion says that a
statue of ‘Rangjung Kharsapani’ (Avalokiteshvara) appeared miraculously from the vertebra of Tsangpa
Gyre, the founder of Drukpa Kagyu lineage of Mahayana Buddhim. Chimey Lhakhang the fertility temple of
Lama Drukpa Kuenley the Divine Madman (optional). Evening visit Rinchen Gang Village, the one of the
oldest clustered villages in the country. O/n Wangdue at an altitude of 1350m
Day 6: Witness Wangdi Tshechu festival - the tradition of Tshechu was established in 1670 on the tenth
day of the eight month of the Bhutanese calendar to commemorate the birth of Guru Rinpoche, Such
festivals are celebrated throughout the country at various seasons.
Day 7: Witness wangdi Tshechu festival and in the afternoon visit Punakha Dzong. In the evening
hike to Khamsum yuelley Namgyal Chorten.
Day 8: Drive to Gangtey, home of the rare endangered black-necked crane. Visit Gangtey Monastery and
enjoy the nature trail walk from the Monastery to cranes roosting place. O/n Gangte at an altitude of
3000m
Day 9: Drive to Paro. Evening at leisure and shopping. O/n Paro.
Day 10: Morning transfer to airport for international departure flight to onward
destination.
