Day 1: Arrival Paro, visit Kyichu Lhakhang (it is one of the 108 temples built by King Songtsen Gampo in
659 A.D), and Paro town. O/n Paro at an altitude of 2280m
Day 2: Drives to Thimphu (capital) en-route stop visit Simtokha Dzong (oldest dzong). Afternoon visit
School of Arts, National library, Nunnery, Changangkha Lhakhang, and Sangay hill for the best view of
Thimphu town and mini zoo. Evening at leisure and shopping. O/n Thimphu at an altitude of 2320m
Day 3: Morning drive to Trongsa, en-route stop at Duchula Pass at 3140m from here one can have
breathtaking, panoramic view of the eastern Himalayan mountains on a clear day. Lunch at Chendebi and O/n
Trongsa at an altitude of 1900m
Day 4: Drive to Bumthang and afternoon visit Tamshing Lhakhang [It is one of the most important Nyingma
temples in the Kingdom. It was built by Pema Lingpa in 1501 with the help of Khandroma (female celestial
beings)], Konchosum Lhakhang and town area. O/n Bumthang at an altitude of 2600m to 4000m
Day 5: Morning witness Jampay Lhakhang Drup ceremony and afternoon visit Kurje Lhakhang (in 8th century
Guru came to Bumthang and meditated, leaving JEY (imprint) of his KU (body) in the rock, hence the
temple’s name is known as Kurjey), and Jakar Dzong. O/n Bumthang
Day 6: Drive to Chumey to witness Tshechu festival at Prakar Monastery ‘temple of the white monkey’
because the villagers observed that white monkeys were working on the temple after dark. Visit Nyimalung
Monastery and Yathra weaving and shop. Evening at leisure and shopping. O/n Bumthang
Day 7: Drive to Tharpaling monastery (it was established by Great Nyingma Philosopher and saint Longchen
Rabjampa in 1352, at the altitude of 3600m), and hike to Jakar dzong from Tharpaling monastery following
the ancient footpath. O/n Bumthang
Day 8: Morning visit Burning Lake (this is a narrow gorge river containing one of the great pilgrimage
sites in Bhutan. This is where Pema Lingpa, a saint from Bumthang found the treasure hidden by Guru
Rinpoche and thus became a “terton”, discoverer of religious treasure), and later witness Jampa Lhakhang
Drup (annual ceremony) and in the late evening witness the fire dance - popularly known as a naked dance.

Day 9: Drive back to Punakha. O/n Punakha.
Day 10: Morning visit Punakha Dzong, where the secret relic ‘Rangjung Kharsapani’, that
Zhanbdrung brought with him from his monastery at Ralung in Tibet. Legion says that a statue of ‘Rangjung
Kharsapani’ (Avalokiteshvara) appeared miraculously from the vertebra of Tsangpa Gyre, the founder of
Drukpa Kagyu lineage of Mahayana Buddhim. En-route stop to visit chimey Lhakhang (optional) while on way
back to Paro. O/n Paro
Day 11: Morning transfer to airport for international departure flight to onward destination.
